Does your Central AC Need A Spring Cleaning?
Your AC system needs it’s annual tune-up to ensure it runs smoothly all summer long. Now I know what you’re thinking:
"Do I really need to have my system tuned up EVERY year?"
It's an understandable question, so we'd like to run through a checklist of what is actually done during a tune-up to help you understand why doing one every year is absolutely necessary!
1. We check the refrigerant level
Refrigerant doesn't get "used up" in a AC system, so if your system is running low, it means there is a leak. Finding a leak quickly is essential to avoiding downtime and costly repairs.
2. Check/change the air filter
Here’s why checking and changing your systems air filter is so important. When your AC filter gets clogged, dust and dirt start getting into the air conditioner itself, causing wear and tear on the parts. You probably know what that means: the more wear and tear on the parts, the sooner they wear out and you’re dealing with a breakdown.
3. Wash the coil
Your coil is the the device that "releases" the heat that was captured in your home to the outdoors. Because the coils play such a crucial role in the cooling process, keeping them clean helps to ensure the long-term health of your air conditioning system.
4. Check air flow
Even if the mechanical air cooling system is operating perfectly, your home won't cool properly if the air isn't moving around your home in the way it's supposed to. Our technicians check to make sure the air flow is moving at 100%
